James McGuire

DPM, LPT, LPed, FAPWHc

Dr. James McGuire is the director of the Leonard S. Abrams Center for Advanced Wound Healing and a Professor Clinician Scholar in the Departments of Podiatric Medicine and Biomechanics at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. His undergraduate degree is from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA (1974), and his Physical Therapy Certificate is from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. (1975) He practiced physical therapy in Philadelphia until 1977 when he entered Podiatric medical school.Dr. McGuire is a board-certified podiatrist and wound care specialist. He has more than 40 years of experience in biomechanics and wound management, has published extensively, and has participated in several research trials involving the diabetic foot and wound healing. Dr. McGuire has lectured both nationally and internationally in the areas of wound healing, diabetic foot management, off-loading, and biomechanics of the at-risk foot.

Dr. David Armstrong

DPM,PHD

Dr. Armstrong is Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Neurological Surgery at the University of Southern California. Dr. Armstrong holds a Master of Science in Tissue Repair and Wound Healing from the University of Wales College of Medicine and a PhD from the University of Manchester College of Medicine, where he was appointed Visiting Professor of Medicine. He is founder and co- Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA).

Dr. Armstrong has produced more than 715 peer-reviewed research papers in dozens of scholarly medical journals as well as over 120 books or book chapters. He is founding co- Editor of the American Diabetes Association’s Clinical Care of the Diabetic Foot, now entering its fourth edition.

Armstrong is Director of USC’s National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Center to Stream Healthcare in Place (C2SHiP.org) which places him at the nexus of the merger of consumer electronics, wearables and medical devices in an effort to maximize hospital-free and activity-rich days.

Dr. Armstrong was selected as one of the first six International Wound Care Ambassadors and is the recipient of numerous awards and degrees by universities and international medical organizations including the inaugural Georgetown Distinguished Award for Diabetic Limb Salvage. In 2008, he was the 25th and youngest-ever member elected into the Podiatric Medicine Hall of Fame. He was the first surgeon to be appointed University Distinguished Outreach Professor at the University of Arizona. He was the first podiatric surgeon to become a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery and the first US podiatric surgeon named fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow. He is the 2010 and youngest ever recipient of the ADA’s Roger Pecoraro Award, the highest award given in the field.

Dr. Armstrong is past Chair of Scientific Sessions for the ADA’s Foot Care Council, and a past member of the National Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association. He sits on the Infectious Disease Society of America’s (IDSA) Diabetic Foot Infection Advisory Committee and is the US appointed delegate to the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot. Dr. Armstrong is the founder and co-chair of the International Diabetic Foot Conference (DF-Con), the largest annual international symposium on the diabetic foot in the world. He is also the Founding President of the American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS), a medical and surgical society dedicated to building interdisciplinary teams to eliminate preventable amputation in the USA and worldwide.

Jake Wynes

DPM, MS, FACFAS

A podiatric surgeon, Dr. Wynes manages all facets of foot and ankle care for children and adults. He is able to provide the most up-to-date treatment for conditions that are present from birth or progressive. Dr. Wynes has special interest in management of foot and ankle arthritis, adult and pediatric flatfoot, and cavus conditions. He also specializes in infection, malunion, and nonunion management of the foot and ankle. Dr. Wynes believes in meeting patients' needs through comprehensive evaluation and treatment designed to help them achieve an active, pain-free lifestyle. Dr. Wynes provides each patient with communication and education so they can make informed decisions about their treatment. Many conditions can be treated by nonsurgical techniques, but in certain cases, surgery is recommended. In his practice, Dr. Wynes combines leading-edge techniques with proven traditional methods to provide patients with the best foot and ankle care possible. Dr. Wynes specialized training has equipped him with the skills necessary to perform various procedures, from the most basic bunion or hammertoe surgery to complex realignment and tendon transfers, with the utmost accuracy and precision. In addition, he offers minimally invasive treatments, such as ankle arthroscopy and metatarsal lengthening. Dr. Wynes is co-director of the University of Maryland Limb Preservation Program and program director for the Deformity Correction Fellowship. He is a national lecturer on Charcot neuroarthropathy, limb salvage, and other foot and ankle disorders. Dr. Wynes was recognized as 2021 ""Physician of the Year"" at University of Maryland Midtown Campus. He also has been recognized as a ""Top Doctor"" in the specialty of Podiatry by Baltimore magazine.

Erik Janisse

Program Director, Midwest School of Modern Pedorthics

Erick Janisse, CO, CPed has been involved with pedorthics for over 30 years.  After 20+ years in clinical patient care, he now works as Dr. Comfort’s Senior Manager of Training and Education, and as the Program Director for Midwest School of Modern Pedorthics.  He has been invited faculty for pre-cert and post-cert pedorthic courses and footcare-related symposia across the United States and internationally.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, and on AOPA’s Assembly Planning Committee.

Dennis Janisse

CPed

Dennis Janisse, C.Ped is President and CEO of National Pedorthic Services, Inc., a network of full-service Pedorthic facilities. In addition to his duties at NPS, Mr. Janisse is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dennis is presently a consultant for Dr. Comfort, a subsidiary of DJO Global. He teaches pedorthics courses at Northwestern University Medical School and the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is past President of the Pedorthic Footwear Association and an honorary member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He has written extensively on all aspects of Pedorthics, with over 50 publications to his credit and has lectured throughout the United States and the world.

Haywan Chiu

DPM, FACFAS

Haywan Chiu, DPM, is a podiatric surgeon at Albuquerque Associated Podiatrists in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He specializes in diabetic limb salvage. Dr. Chiu's medical education has taken him from coast to coast in the United States. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2007, before moving east for medical school, graduating from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2013. His residency took him back to the west coast and the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Palo Alto Podiatry Residency Program and Stanford University. Before joining private practice, Dr. Chiu was an assistant clinical professor at the University of New Mexico in the Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation department. It was during his early years of practice that he found his specialty area: diabetic limb salvage. Additionally, he has an interest in surgical education, and believes video format should be embraced by future educators.

Adrienne Estes

DPM, MS, FACFAS, DABPM, PAFWHc

Dr. Adrienne Estes is a podiatric surgeon currently practicing in southern California. She is an Assistant Professor for Western University of Health Sciences and Chief of Podiatry at Riverside University Health Systems. She graduated from WUCPM and after finishing her residency in NY at the HHC Hospitals she completed her fellowship at the North Jersey Foot & Ankle Fellowship under Dr. Michael Subik. She currently specializes in minimally invasive surgery, complex limb deformity correction, limb salvage, and surgical offloading solutions for diabetic ulcers. She is double board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is also a fellow of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing since 2016. She is currently the site coordinator for the PGY3 residents from VA Loma Linda and leads the Foot & Ankle Grand Rounds at the RUHS Orthopedics Residency program. She was recently voted faculty of the year at WesternU and is currently advancing the medical school curriculum with surgical cadaver conferences for pre-clinical students.  She has served on the fellowship committee for ACFAS, surgical committee for AACPM and most recently, the OR committee at her local hospital. She continues to grow as a speaker for both regional and national meetings and conferences.

Windy Cole

DPM, CWSP, FAPWH

Dr. Windy Cole holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati and is a
graduate of the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Cole practices in
Northeast Ohio where she serves as Medical Director of the Wound Care Center, University
Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center and as Adjunct Professor and Director of Wound Care Research at
Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. A dedicated wound care advocate for two
decades, Dr. Cole is interested in medical education, diabetic foot care, wound care, limb salvage,
and clinical research. Her passion to help others has led her to humanitarian efforts, including a
medical mission to Jordan in 2018 to aid Syrian refugees. Dr. Cole has published numerous
articles and is in demand as a speaker both nationally and internationally. She is a feature writer
for Podiatry Management and Today’s Wound Clinic and is a contributing writer for Podiatry
Today, The Foot Journal, and Lower Extremity Review.

Brennen O’Dell

DPM

Dr. O'Dell is from Gilbert, AZ. He completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University. He then completed his podiatric medical school at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA. Upon graduation, he then went to Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT to complete his residency in podiatric medicine and surgery. During training, he developed an interest in management of the diabetic foot and completed a fellowship in research and diabetic limb preservation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. After his fellowship, he was hired on at the University of Michigan to continue his career, where he is currently practicing.
